The Alfonso Jaramillo school is located between two hierarchical urban facts of the city -one cultural (J. M. S. D. Library) and another ecological (Carmel Club)—that frame it as a transitional urban anchorage capable of influence the cultural and landscape revitalization of the context; quality, furthermore, enhanced and supported by the ways that They adjoin: Calle 167 and the Projected Av. Cra. 58
URBAN, LANDSCAPE AND ARCHITECTURAL COMPONENTS OF THE PROPOSAL
LANDSCAPED ALAMEDA AND URBAN EDGE
On the alameda we decided to create a bar as a public vocation facing Carrera 58, locating uses that could eventually open up to the city such as auditoriums, cafeteria, library and multipurpose classrooms, those that require contact with the alameda open onto a semi-hard floor, those that require insulation open onto gardens.
LANDSCAPED PUBLIC SQUARE
In front of Calle 167, at the intersection with Carrera 58, a square was created to serve as a meeting place for the community and from the school to the city. The square is surrounded by a portico that serves as a border active against the city, creating a large access threshold to the school and a continuous connection to the SED building.
CLASSROOMS BETWEEN GARDENS
Perpendicular to it, we located the teaching spaces that required shelter and silence, so we arranged the classrooms in these bars, in the calm of the gardens.
WALK BETWEEN GARDENS
(Promenade) Inside the building, a route through terraces, balconies and gardens that end in the roof garden that preserves the distant view between the adjacent buildings towards the hills orientales, cerro de la conejera and cerros de suba.
VERSATILITY
On the bar parallel to Av. Cra. 58, the two learning environments (SENA – School) are located, one after the other, to its easy adaptation and union. On the bar-threshold parallel to Calle 167 is the headquarters S.E. - Go up, to facilitate your control and independence.
FLEXIBILITY
The communal services bar (collective activity) is permeable and can be an extension to the street. cross bars of classrooms (intimate activity) go from being a single room to a mixed learning macroclassroom.
ILLUMINATION
The low density of the building and its slenderness in the bars allows that natural lighting permeates all the spaces of the complex: the orientation of the bars responds to thermal comfort and light that each of the activities demands.
BUILDABILITY
Intentional low building density and permeable soil in most part of the walkable area: Closest connection with the land and nature to promote a culture and environmental education.
